The distressed blue wood was originally base boards in an old house. The house was about to be torn down, and through small town connections we were able to go out and salvage what we could before it was too late.

So, not only is there a limited amount of this beautifully naturally dressed blue barn wood, it is a completely unique handmade frame. All of the frames my dad creates are completely designed and crafted by him. This frame is no exception. We decided to display the "Old Barn" in this frame. With the wood being beautiful shades of worn out blue, and the "Old Barn" with its soft blue skys, they complemented each other nicely.

The story behind the "Old Barn":

Taking the long way home, so I could pass and see my favorite house, I came across this barn. Driving slow I photographed the pack house just as the sunlight peaked through the barn window. The barn sits untouched on its purch, and the sky serene in the background. The perfect old country setting.

Drawn with watercolor and pen, creating my classic black and white drawing with a touch of color helping to set it apart. The piece is capturing the rements of what was. Although we can't physically save all the barns, we can help make their memories last forever.
